Walker Satellite Facility
The £3.3million structure – which houses local GPs, four fully-equipped dental surgeries and Local Authority services – followed a similar development model to Shiremoor.
The project was carried out in two phases so that the existing Health Centre could decant into the new building. The existing facility was subsequently demolished to make way for the car park and landscaped areas.
By employing experienced designers who shared the LIFT vision for striking but functional buildings, Robertson was able to deliver a landmark building for the benefit of the local community.
Sharing similar flexible and adaptable design features with Shiremoor, the development is also Secured by Design – a building standard developed to ensure that design and layouts are safe and take account of public health, crime prevention and community safety considerations. This was primarily achieved by CCTV, external lighting, an attractive environment, maintenance, external landscaping and a design which allows natural surveillance.
